<p class="title">The government on Saturday appointed Ajay Bhushan Pandey as Revenue Secretary after the current finance and revenue secretary Hasmukh Adhia superannuates on November 30.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Pandey, who at present is the CEO of Unique Identification Authority of India, will continue to hold additional charge of UIDAI until further orders, a government notification said late on Saturday evening.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Pandey is a 1984 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from Maharashtra cadre.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Earlier in the day, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced Adhia's retirement and also wrote a blog on his contributions to India's reforms under Prime Minister Narendra Modi government in the past four years.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Adhia was instrumental in getting the historic GST legislation implemented across the country and also a host of laws to unearth black money.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Adhia, a 1981-batch Gujarat cadre officer, moved to Delhi in November 2014 as a secretary in the Department of Financial Services after Modi became prime minister.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The government also appointed Girish Chandra Murmu, a 1985 batch Gujarat-cadre officer as an officer on special duty in the department of expenditure.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He will take over as expenditure secretary in January next year after incumbent Ajay Narayan Jha superannuates.</p>
