Tipra Motha chief Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi ahead of the September 5 bypolls to two Tripura assembly segments, a senior BJP leader said.

The meeting, which happened on Saturday, assumes significance as the CPI(M) recently held discussions with the regional party and sought its support for the upcoming assembly bypolls to Dhanpur and Boxanagar seats in Sepahijala district.

Haryana is safe and nobody should worry about it, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Sunday, a day after his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann claimed that governors of BJP-ruled Manipur and Haryana were "silent" on the law-and-order situation there. Mann made the remark on Saturday as he lashed out at Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit for "threatening" to impose President's rule in the state. Replying to a question on the Punjab chief minister's remarks, Khattar on Sunday said, "Haryana is safe and nobody should worry about it. If there is a talk of (imposing) President's rule, it is for there (Punjab)." (PTI)

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday claimed film art director Nitin Desai, who died by suicide, had met some BJP leaders in Delhi but didn't get help to save his studio whereas the proposed auction of BJP MP Sunny Deol's bungalow was stopped within 24 hours. "We don't have anything against Sunny Deol. He is a good human being and a good actor. He couldn't repay his dues to the Bank of Baroda due to which the bank issued the notice for auction (of his bungalow in Mumbai). But the auction (procedure) was stopped within 24 hours and he was saved," Raut told reporters. (PTI)

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) would contest the 2024 Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha under the umbrella of BJP-led NDA, deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar said.

The statement from rebel nephew of NCP supremo Sharad Pawar comes more than one-and-a-half-months after he switched over to the NDA camp after leaving the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).

“We would contest the 2024 Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections together (with the BJP and Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena),” Ajit Pawar said addressing a mammoth rally of the NCP in Beed in Marathwada region of Maharashtra.
