Bangladesh strife and Waqf Bill feature in RSS annual meet

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat was speaking at Mathura’s Deendayal Gau Vigyan Anusandhan where over 393 workers from across the country had convened to discuss crucial matters ahead of the outfit’s centenary year.

New Delhi: In his address to workers at the two-day annual meet of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat said that Hindus in Bangladesh must not migrate to India, and that the government should abide by the decision of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024. He also said that the matter of the Krishna Janmabhoomi temple is in court and that a movement like the Ram Temple in Ayodhya need not be pursued.

The RSS chief was speaking at Mathura’s Deendayal Gau Vigyan Anusandhan where over 393 workers from across the country had convened to discuss crucial matters ahead of the outfit’s centenary year.

“The Hindu society does not need to migrate from Bangladesh, they should stay there, it is their land, and we have Shaktipeeths in Bangladesh. Hindus live all over the world. Wherever there is a crisis, Hindus look towards Bharat,” Bhagwat said.

On the Waqf Bill, he said that whatever decisions the JPC takes, the government will work further keeping in mind public sentiments.

Speaking on the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi dispute, he said that the matter is in the court, which will take a decision. “There is no need to do anything on this like Ayodhya, society will decide. We are with society,” Bhagwat said.

RSS Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale, in a press conference, said that currently, 72,354 shakhas are running in 45,411 places across the country.

“This year, 3,626 places have increased as compared to last year, and 6,645 shakhas have been added. The number of weekly meetings held across the country is 29,369, with an annual increase of 3,147. Where there is no shakha, monthly Sangh Mandali takes place, and we have that in 11,382 places. There has been an increase of 750 places from last year in weekly Mandalis,” he said. In all, there are a total of 1,13,105 RSS units across the country, he added.

Hosabale also said that in the meeting, the RSS decided to hold training camps for karykartas coming to shakha. The outfit’s expansion work was also discussed, he said.

“What do we have to do in the coming days, how to connect new ideas, how to connect new people of the society, how to connect people of different age groups and how to expand the work by swayamsevaks – these were discussed in the meeting,” he said. He added that the next year, the meeting of Pratinidhi Sabha will be held in Bengaluru and the expansion of work will increase till this meeting.

Hosabale said that the government should bring in some form of control on all internet platforms. “There should be freedom of speech and expression but there should be some regulation like the censor board. There is a difference between control and regulations, I am talking about regulation. The government should definitely pay attention to this,” he said.
