Can't compromise on even an inch of our borders: PM Modi

India's enemies "see the end of their sinister plans" when they see the Indian armed forces, he said at Sir Creek in Gujarat's Kutch district, as he kept up his tradition of celebrating Diwali with personnel of the armed forces.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said India cannot compromise on even an inch of land along its borders, adding that people believe in the strength of its military for defending the country.

Modi was addressing soldiers after celebrating Diwali with them in the Kutch region of Gujarat.

“Today, in this country, our’s is such a government which cannot compromise even on an inch of the country’s border. When our government got this responsibility, we made our policies according to the resolve of our forces. We trust not the words of the enemy but our forces,” Modi told the soldiers.

The Prime Minister also said that serving the motherland is a privileged opportunity when the nation looks towards our soldiers for safety. “When the whole country looks at your unwavering resolve, unrelenting bravery, and unparalleled valor, it feels assured of safety and peace. When the world sees you, it sees India’s strength in you, and our enemies see the end of their sinister plans in your bravery,” PM Modi said.

Modi, who spends Diwali every year with soldiers, visited soldiers posted in Kachchh to wish them on the festive occasion, dressed in the Army uniform, offering sweets to the troops posted there. He also met BSF personnel, soldiers from the Army, Navy and Air Force at Lakki Nala in Sir Creek in Kachchh.

The Prime Minister started the day paying floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar on the birth anniversary of the country’s first home minister.

In his address to security personnel, he said that while India was known as a country that imported weapons earlier, today, we are exporting defence equipment to many countries of the world. “Today, India is building its own submarine. Today. our Tejas fighter plane is becoming the strength of the Air Force,” he added.

“Glad to have celebrated Diwali with our brave personnel from the BSF, Army, Navy, and Air Force at Lakki Nala in the Creek Area, Kutch. This area is both challenging and remote. The days are scorching hot and it also gets cold. The Creek area has other environmental challenges as well,” he later posted on X.
