<p>Inshore Patrol Vessel (IPV) “Rani Avantibai,” the second in a series of five IPVs, will be commissioned into Indian Coast Guard here on Thursday by the Union Minister of State for Defence Jitendra Singh.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The 50-metre IPV, built by Hindustan Shipyard Limited, had been launched in 2009.<br /><br />“Rani Avantibai” is equipped with the most advanced and sophisticated navigational and communication sensors and equipment, a defence release said on Wednesday. The ship is propelled by three MTU-4000 series diesel engines of 2720 KW capacity coupled with three 71S2 Rolls Royce Kamewa Jets, the release said.<br /><br />“Rani Avantibai,” designed to carry one rigid inflatable boat and two Geminis, is mainly assigned with the task of search and rescue, besides maritime patrol and law enforcement.<br /><br />It can achieve the speed of 14 knots and has an endurance of 1,500 nautical miles.<br />The special features of the ship include an Integrated Bridge System (IBS), Machinery Control System (IMCS) and an indigenously built Gun Mount with Fire Control System, the release added.</p>
