<p>Muslim Youth League, the youth wing of the Indian Union Muslim League, found itself in the middle of a controversy on Monday after it was accused of swindling funds raised to support victims and families of the Unnao and Kathua rape cases.</p>.<p>A dissident faction within the party publically accused it of swindling Rs 1 crore, a claim also being backed by a Kerala minister.</p>.<p>Youth League National Council member Yusuf Padanilam alleged that the party leaders, including State General Secretary P K Firoz, misused the funds for personal purposes. </p>.<p>Kerala Higher Education Minister K T Jaleel, a former IUML activist, said that the Youth League leadership must explain how the funds were spent as massive fund collection was carried out in the name of the two cases.</p>.<p>Even as the Youth League was trying to put up a defense by maintaining that funds were given to lawyers and the families of the victims, the rival factions were trying to counter its claim by seeking back account statements.</p>.<p>Sources said that the government is likely to order a probe into the allegations.</p>
