It has been two days since the deadly attack on tourists in J&K. At least 28 people have lost their lives, and a LeT-affiliated group has claimed responsibility. In response, India suspended the Indus Water Treaty -- which is vital for Pakistan, and has closed the Attari border, marking a significant downgrading of diplomatic ties with the neighbouring nation. Moreover, the Ministry of External Affairs took out a notification suspending visa services to Pakistani nationals with immediate effect. MEA said all existing valid visas issued by India to Pakistani nationals stand revoked with effect from April 27. Pakistan, in turn, not only suspended the 1972 Shimla Agreement, as well as all its other pacts with New Delhi, but also warned that any move by India to stop the water of the transboundary Indus River System from flowing into Pakistan would be deemed as “an Act of War.
