<p>Veteran actor Ramesh Bhat, on Saturday, said that theatre art should become more commercial and professional to reach a wide spectrum of audience.</p>.<p>He inaugurated the Film Festival, organised by Rangayana, as part of Bahuroopi National theatre festival-2019, at Bhoomigeetha, here. The main event of Bahuroopi-2019 was inaugurated later in the evening on Saturday. It will be held till January 19.</p>.<p>Bhat said, “Besides staging plays and popularising theatre art among the public, Rangayana has been a guardian<br />of social values. Moreover, Rangayana has provided, several artistes to the film industry.”</p>.<p>He said, “An institution like Rangayana is essential for a city like Bengaluru, so that people can enjoy theatre art amidst their busy lives. He recalled his memories with stalwarts like B V Karanth, when he was a theatre artist.</p>.<p>Film critic N Vidyashankar said, earlier, films discussed on the denial of rights of women, along with natural rights of women. But, of late, cinemas discuss on sexual orientation.</p>.<p>He said, “In the present scenario, besides understanding women on social orders, it is important to understand her on her natural order. Understanding woman as part of this nature and also sharing equal rights is essential.”</p>.<p>A variety of programmes, such as multilingual plays, symposium, film festival, painting exhibition, poster exhibition, folk performance, handicrafts festival would be held as part of the festival.</p>
