<p>Public Works Minister H D Revanna said on Sunday that the state government was planning to purchase rice directly from the farmers of for Anna Bhagya scheme. A decision will be taken in this regard soon, he said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Speaking at a programme in Arkalgud,Revanna said that the government was purchasing rice from various parts of the country at Rs 26 per kg for Anna Bhagya scheme. "The traders in Karnataka purchase rice from the farmers at Rs 18 per kg. Hence, the government is mulling over purchasing rice directly from the farmers of at Rs 22 per kg, which would benefit them and the government also," the minister said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He added that maize procurement centres would be opened across the district soon and it was being planned to fix support price of Rs 1,650 per quintal for the produce.</p>
