<p>Beginning on Friday at the Bangalore Palace Grounds (Gayathri Vihar Entrance), the ten-day book festival will be a delight for bibliophiles. Books on medicine, engineering, indology, architecture, ayurveda, astrology and various other subjects will be on display catering to the interests of all - from six-year old to sixty-year old. The festival will be on till November 15. <br /><br />As many as 94 stalls will be set up exclusively for Kannada books. “With the assistance from Kannada Pustaka Pradhikara, the Bangalore Booksellers and Publishers Association (BBPA) were able to increase the number of Kannada stalls,” said Devaru Bhat, secretary, BBPA.<br /><br />The allocation of stalls was done by raffle, instilling autonomous and fair methods of participation of all organisations. A discount of ten per cent will be offered on the books at the fair for which Deccan Herald is the media partner. More than 3.50 lakh people are expected to visit. To offer equal advantages to all the stalls the entry and exit patterns will be reversed on alternate days. <br /><br />‘Game of Giving’<br /><br />As a gesture of social responsibility, the ‘Game of Giving’ will be held for the book lovers. The visitors may bring and gift their used books, fiction, non-fiction, text books, manuals, magazines, CDs, VCDs, DVDs, and cassettes to the festival. The still usable books would be used for setting up mini-libraries in the needy institutions.Various competitions and cultural activities for school and college students too have been scheduled. Painting competitions, quiz, scrabble and crossword competitions are arranged for students.</p>
