<p>A 65-year-old man's right eye was gouged out after his 35-year-old son hit him with a car key over a property dispute in JP Nagar, South Bengaluru, on Tuesday morning.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The JP Nagar police arrested Abhishek Chethan who works for an automobile company and is a resident of Shakambarinagar near the Banashankari temple. His father is S S Parameshwar, a retired government official, who has been admitted to a private hospital.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The police said that Parameshwar owns a building in Shakambarinagar and lives on the first floor while Chethan lives on the second floor. His other son who married a woman of his choice and his daughter live separately. Chethan picked a quarrel with his brother over a property issue when he had come to perform the last rites of their mother Vasantha who passed away recently.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The police added that on Tuesday morning, Chethan started arguing with Parameshwar demanding that the entire property be transferred to him. When Parameshwar objected to it, Chethan, in a fit of rage, took his car key and punched in his face, resulting in his right eye being gouged out. After Parameshwar screamed for help, Chethan fled from the house. Neighbours alerted the police, who arrested him. Parameshwar's granddaughter witnessed the entire incident.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The police said that Parameshwar is being treated at a private hospital and is not in a condition to give a statement. They have recorded the statements of his second son and daughter. The police said they will produce the accused before the magistrate and seek his custody for further interrogation. </p>
