<p>A 32-year-old woman BBMP health officer committed suicide by hanging herself at her parental house in Nandini Layout on Monday night.</p>.<p>Police suspect that the deceased, Dr Ashwini H, could have taken the extreme step due to depression over marital discord with her husband who is also a doctor.</p>.<p>Dr Ashwini was married to Dr Rohith in 2016 and their marriage was on the rocks less than a year, the police said. They were not living together in the last one year. Dr. Rohith worked at the Bowring Hospital and he had sent a divorce notice to his wife around six months ago.</p>.<p>Dr Ashwini was working as an assistant surgeon at the Urban Family Welfare Centre (UFWC) on West of Chord Road in Vijayanagar. She had recently gotten relieved from BBMP official duty to pursue with her post graduation in Anesthesiology in Davangere.</p>.<p>The incident came to light on Tuesday around 11.20 pm when Ashwini’s mother Annapurna checked on her as she did not come out for breakfast.</p>.<p>She found her daughter hanging to the ceiling fan using a veil. There was a piece of paper where it was written “Mummy, I am Sorry,” a senior police officer said.</p>.<p>Her parents informed the police who rushed to the spot and conducted the spot inspection with the presence of a Tahasildar. Later, based on the complaint lodged by Ashwini’s father Chandrappa, the Nandini Layout police registered a case of dowry death and have made her husband Dr. Rohith the accused.</p>.<p>In his complaint to the police, Chandrappa alleged that his daughter was being harassed by her husband and his family members, which prompted her to take the extreme step.</p>
