<p>Commotion prevailed for sometime at the crowded Kempegowda bus station on Tuesday noon when fire gutted a BMTC bus.<br /><br /></p>.<p>A Fire and Emergency Services official said around 12.15 pm, they received a call that a BMTC bus had caught fire. Two fire tenders were rushed to the spot and doused the flames in 20 minutes. The bus that was gutted bore the route number 61 A and plied from Kempegowda bus station to Chandra Layout.<br /><br />According to the official the driver had parked the bus at the station. He had alighted from the vehicle along with the conductor and passengers, when the engine started to emanate smoke. Within no time the whole bus was engulfed in flame. <br /><br />Public at the station alerted the fire control room. Preliminary investigation revealed that a short circuit was the cause of fire. <br /><br />BMTC officials are conducting an inquiry into the incident and will submit a report, said the official.<br /><br />The jurisdictional police who visited the spot said it was fortunate that no passenger was inside the bus and no casualties were reported.<br /></p>
