As an all-rounder, Moises Henriques is very much in demand. While last season, there were three IPL teams negotiating for him, this season, he made a move from Kolkata Knight Riders to Delhi Daredevils. The shift, he says, has not been much of a change as at the end of the day, it is the game that matters to him. As he lets his hair down at a party, he says, “Can you believe I used to be a shy and reserved guy in the beginning? But it is my team that has made me feel so much at ease.”

In India for the seventh time, Moises explains that each time he comes here, he takes back so much more. “With the constant travelling, one gets to grasp so many things along the way. But every time that I have come to India, I have always found something different, and this time it’s Bangalore,” he says. In the City two days before the scheduled match, Moises says that there was so much he had heard about the City — from its busy culture and wonderful food to beautiful women. “India is filled with beautiful women,” he explains. “So far I have loved the lush greenery that the City has to offer and the warm welcome we all have received out here.” But if there is a moment that he would cherish the most, it would be the time he crossed the boundary to play his first IPL match. “The cheering, the music and the crowd are still so vivid in my mind,” he adds.

Ask Moises if being a foreign player in the IPL is any different and he says, “Not at all.” He adds, “This is one platform where players get to learn a lot from each other. I actually have learnt a lot from the young Indian players of the team.” Calling himself as a mere observer of new places, Moises says that he has seen how cricket is a huge part of the lives of most players. “It’s interesting to see how each player plays his game. Each person has a set game plan in his mind when he is on the field,” he says.

Blending cricket and entertainment has almost become a necessary element for him. “Celebrities have certainly become a huge part of the game. Without the presence of celebrities like Preity Zinta, Shah Rukh Khan and others, I feel a cricket match is incomplete,” he signs off.
