The incident occurred near a park in Vijayanagar, the second such in the last one week.
Rajat (14) of Shamanna Garden studying at the Government Model Primary School near Hosahalli Park, left home at 8 am and was bitten by the street dog near the school at around 8.15 am.

The dog also bit three-year-old Karan, who was standing in front of his house, which is next to the school. When people tried to catch the dog, it bit another person. They finally succeeded to catch the dog and handed it over to BBMP workers.

Meanwhile, BBMP caught three more dogs from Vijayanagar on Friday and kept them under observation. “We have sterilised 92 dogs in the recent round, prior to which we had sterilised 98 dogs in Vijayanagar,” informed a BBMP official. After the incident of Friday, the Palike will send another team for capturing dogs on Saturday.

As a permanent solution to the dog bite incidents, BBMP has now embarked upon mapping the areas which have a reported a large number of cases.

“Once we have a list of the places, Palike will move in to clear the wet garbage that feeds the dogs,” informed Special Commissioner, Maheshwara Rao. BBMP is hoping that clearing the garbage will help bring the dog menace down. Rao further said that the Animal Birth Control (ABC) programme is also being fully implemented to support the Palike.
