Officials said that KSRTC is one of the largest employing organisations having a staff strength of 37,831. On an everyday basis, 9 per cent of staff are sanctioned leave, weekly offs at 17 per cent, while 10 per cent is reserved for other exigencies and only 64 per cent of staff are available for operation.

To address these issues there was a need for a scientific method of duty allocation and leave management. Keeping this in view, KSRTC introduced allocation of duty based on seniority and counseling.
