<p>In a freak incident, a 47-year-old man, who died falling into an open drain in Hennur two weeks ago, was discovered on Wednesday after foul odour emanated from the ditch.</p>.<p>The deceased has been identified as Shekar B, who lived with his brother at Kasturinagar. Shekar’s brother gave a missing person’s complaint on June 21.</p>.<p>A police official said the slabs covering the drain were broken near Meghana Palya due to bikers riding on the footpath. In some places BBMP workers had removed the slabs to clean the drains, but did not put it back. Shekar slipped into the ditch while walking on the footpath.</p>.<p>Though no one in the area noticed the accident, it was recorded on a CCTV camera close to the drain.</p>.<p>The official said the drain was overflowing with water after last month’s rain, but residents close by began getting a stench in the past one week as the rain ceased and the drain dried up.</p>.<p>When it became unbearable, they checked the drain and found Shekar’s body. Residents then alerted the Hennur police.</p>
