<p> <br />Though JD(S) has not released its list of candidates, Marimuthu has registered her papers with the electoral office of Bangalore (North) by stating that she will be contesting under the JD(S) banner.<br /><br />Spokesperson for the JD(S), YSV Datta defended Marimuthu’s move, saying that she was a former sitting councillor and was likely to get a ticket, if the JD(S) scrutiny committee headed by H D Kumaraswamy made a rule to give tickets to all sitting corporators. <br /><br />“However, the criteria was still being thrashed out as the meetings were going on,” he said, late Wednesday night.<br /><br />Meanwhile, there were nearly 63 nominations made for the BBMP elections across the City on day three of filing of the nominations to the elections. With lists of prospective candidates yet to be released by most political parties, independents were found more in numbers. Forty one nominations were filed by independent candidates in Bangalore.<br />However, certain candidates, hopeful of getting a ticket, had already filed nominations under the political party banners.<br /><br />As many as five candidates, including Marimuthu had filed their nominations under the JD(S) banner. Fourteen candidates under the Indian National Congress banner and one from the BJP had filed their nominations. Candidates from fringe parties like Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the National Congress Party (NCP) each had filed from South and North of Bangalore respectively. <br /><br />Nominations by a single candidate under a political party banner and independent category were found in the electoral list. Citizens above the age of 50 had also filed their papers to fight the polls as independents.<br /><br />Numerous cases of multiple nominations on account of errors while filing their papers were found in areas under electoral officers in Central and Urban areas.</p>
