<p>Three unidentified persons stabbed a 23-year-old to death as they attempted to mug him and his friend near Mysore Bank Circle in Upparpet on Friday midnight.</p>.<p>The police said the victims Goutham Krishna and his friend Vyshak were clicking a selfie on JC Road near Mysore Bank Circle when a bike-borne trio waylaid them.</p>.<p>Krishna and Vyshak worked as office assistants at a private cargo company near Halasuru Gate. They hailed from Malapuram in Kerala and were staying at a room near Syndicate Bank in Halasuru Gate.</p>.<p>They had dinner at a hotel on Friday night and were walking towards their room. Both were taking photographs near Mysore Bank Circle when the three men came on a Honda Dio. The trio asked them something in the local dialect, to which Krishna replied that they could not understand the language. They then started threatening Krishna and Vyshak, demanding they part with their valuables.</p>.<p class="CrossHead"><strong><em>Victim fought back</em></strong></p>.<p>Soon, Vyshak realised they would be mugged and told the trio that he would hand over whatever he had. Krishna, who put up a strong resistance against the muggers, was stabbed on the left side of his chest by one of the criminals.</p>.<p>As the stretch of JC Road was still busy with autorickshaws, the muggers fled the spot. Vyshak took the help of passersby and rushed Krishna to Victoria Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.</p>.<p>Vyshak informed the police and lodged a complaint against the muggers at the Upparpet police station. Krishna’s body was shifted to the morgue for post-mortem.</p>.<p>The police have taken up a case of murder and are analysing CCTV footage to ascertain the identity of the assailants.</p>
