<p class="title">Pointing to the rise in cancer patients, Dr C N R Rao on Sunday urged the state government to set up a ‘nano house’ in Bengaluru for further research.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Addressing the golden jubilee celebrations of Karnataka Cancer Society at the IISc, Prof Rao said, of late, there has been a spurt in cancer cases.</p>.<p class="bodytext">“Cancer is replete with all. Hospitals see a high density of patients suggesting in-depth study and research besides utilising the expertise of well-trained doctors,” he added.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Prof Rao released an informative letter themed ‘Youngsters against the Cancer’. Sources at the cancer society told <span class="italic">DH</span> that a massive awareness drive among youngsters is on the cards. “We are planning awareness programmes in degree colleges by forming 500 youngsters’ groups. They will inculcate further awareness,” a society member said.</p>.<p class="bodytext"> D V Sadananda Gowda, Union Minister for Statistics, inaugurated a programme to screen cancer patients in rural areas. </p>.<p class="bodytext">“Supporting the works of the society, I will release Rs 5 lakh under my MPLAD scheme in a week’s time,” the minister said. </p>
