<p>Commuters on CMH Road were in for a surprise on Sunday, when members of the Rotaract Club asked them to turn off their engines till the signal turned green.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The members, positioned near the KFC outlet, were creating awareness on reducing fuel consumption and pollution by conducting the ‘Turn Off Engine’ drive. The volunteers were seen explaining the benefits of saving fuel while the motorists turned off their engines during the brief halt at the signal.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Akshai Mallappa, a volunteer, said, “Pople are not conscious of the fuel consumed while the vehicle is idling. When we asked the motorists to switch off their engines, they responded positively and obliged.”</p>
