<p>Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board chairperson Gaurav Gupta assessing water availability at TK Halli Pump House, on Wednesday, quelled fears of a water <br />crisis this summer.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Speaking to reporters at the pump house on the outskirts of the City, he said: “Unlike previous years, the situation on the water front this year will not be grim, despite low rainfall.”<br /><br />Mayor D Venkatesh Murthy and several corporators joined Gaurav Gupta in his visit to the TK Halli Pump House. <br /><br />Gupta added that on an average the TK Halli reservoir can draw 500 MLD from the Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) dam. <br /><br />Will help reduce intensity <br /><br />However, due to various reasons, the pumping has been reduced to about 250 MLD. Despite this, measures taken by the Board such as commissioning of Cauvery IV Stage, II Phase will help reduce intensity of water crisis, he said.<br /><br />Though water storage in TK Halli reservoir has been 135 MLD, the water level has come down to 40 MLD this year due to certain reasons, he noted.<br /><br />The reservoir will be able to meet the water needs of the City till the beginning of May. To ensure better water supply, stringent efforts will be made to check illegal drawing of water, he added. <br /><br />To make best use of the visit, corporators highlighted the apathetic attitude of BWSSB officials towards the water crisis in their respective wards. They demanded that BWSSB officials attend monthly Council meeting to address water issues.</p>
