<p>She began her career with director Sudesh Issar’s Prem Geet (1981) opposite actor Raj Babbar, and since then, as Anita Raj puts it, “there has been no looking back”. <br /><br /></p>.<p>“My first signed film, however, was Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Achha Bura. But Prem Geet happened to be my first release,” recollects the daughter of noted actor Jagdish Raj.<br /><br />Over the years, Anita featured in various movies and is currently playing the role of Rajmata in television serial Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani. She will now also been seen in the second season of thriller 24 to be aired on Colors.<br /><br />“Naina Sighania’s character has been given a nice shape for this season. I am enjoying every bit of it. Also, the best part is that the makers incorporate our inputs and feedback, and let us improvise on our roles — which makes a big difference,” she tells Metrolife.<br /><br />In the series, which also stars Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor, Anita essays the role of the prime minister’s (played by Neil Bhoopalam) mother.<br /><br />She was last seen on the big screen in the 2012 film Chaar Din Ki Chandni. <br />On being asked what has kept her away for so long, Anita says, “Even though I have been getting various roles for the small screen, for the big screen, I am waiting for that one role which is of some importance and challenges me as an actor.”<br /><br />She takes a pause and continues, “It has to be something big; after all I will be returning after a long break.” So what role would she like to return with? “A nice comedy,” <br />she says.<br /><br /></p>
