<p>A major accident was averted owing to timely presence of mind of a passenger in a KSRTC bus in Hassan recently. The driver of a KSRTC became unconscious while driving and rammed into five vehicles before a passenger took the place of the driver and applied the brakes.</p>.<p><br />The incident occurred when KSRTC bus driver, 42-year-old Prabhu, fell unconscious while driving the bus from Mudigere to Bangalore. <br /><br />When the bus reached Kalabhavan in Hassan, the driver started coughing excessively and lost consciousness.<br /><br />The bus rammed into two autos and three cars. A passenger stopped the bus and averted a major mishap. </p>.<p><br />While the 45 passengers in the bus escaped unhurt, auto driver Saleem Ahmed suffered minor injuries.</p>.<p><br />The bus driver hailing from Chitradurga has been working as a driver for seven years and said it was the first time that such an incident had occurred.<br /></p>
