Chitradurga woman dies in Mecca

A woman from Chitradurga reportedly died due to heatwave at Arafat Grounds in Mecca on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Ruksana Kausar, 63, a retired teacher and a resident of Mandakki Bhatti Layout in the city.

Kausar, along with her family members, had gone on Hajj pilgrimage. Kausar, who was taken ill, succumbed to the searing heat. She was buried in Mecca, police said.

At least 900 people have died to intense heat witnessed by the pilgrim centre.
