<p class="title">The coalition government has failed completely in waiving the loans borrowed by farmers and maintaining law and order in the state, alleged Leader of the Opposition in Legislative Council Kota Srinivas Poojary. </p>.<p class="bodytext">Speaking to mediapersons, on Monday, he said the government had promised to waive Rs 53,000-crore loans borrowed by the farmers. Later, it was reduced to Rs 34,000 crore. In the last budget, Rs 6,500 crore was earmarked for the purpose. Now, the government has announced that Rs 800 crore has been released.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A day before the session at Belagavi, the government had promised to issue debt-free certificates to all farmers. Unfortunately, till date, only Rs 2.92 crore has been deposited into the accounts of the farmers. “The loan waiver is just an eye wash by the coalition government. All the promises have remained only on paper,” he said. </p>.<p class="bodytext">There was opposition to Tipu Jayanti celebrations by BJP’s 104 MLAs, 18 MLCs, and MPs in Karnataka. BJP Rajya Sabha members too had sought clarification on Tipu Jayanti celebrations. The government has failed to give answer to the opposition in this regard.</p>.<p class="bodytext">When the Opposition members had trooped into the well of the house during the session in Belagavi demanding probe into the illegalities in drilling borewells at Hosadurga in Chitradurga district, the government once again failed to provide any answer.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He said that the government had failed to table the Anwar Mannippady report. That apart, it also failed to discuss Auradkar panel report on police payscale, and the failure of Bapuji Seva Kendras in the state, Poojary said.</p>
