Doctors from Bhagamandala and Napoklu Primary Health Centres will visit these temporary clinics. They have been directed to diagnose the disease and provide proper treatment. All needed medicines have been kept in stock at Karike Ayurveda hospital.
Health officials have also been deputed to the affected areas to conduct a survey and to destroy the breeding grounds of mosquitoes.

The district administration has already written a letter to Karike Gram Panchayat to take measures to destroy the mosquito breeding centres in the village and to see that water does not get stagnant in containers at rubber estates.
Four Dengue cases have been reported in Karike. About 65 persons were suffering from fever with Dengue symptoms in Karike village on Monday. Of which, 13 blood samples have been sent to laboratory. Two persons are also suffering from Chikungunya, said District Surveillance Officer Dr M K Sathish.

The symptoms of dengue fever is high fever associated with headache, muscle and joint pains, and rashes in the body. Chikungunya fever is a viral disease transmitted to humans by the bite of infected Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes. Symptoms of Chikungunya includes fever, debilitating arthralgia (joint pain), swelling of joints, stiffness, myalgia (muscular pain), headache, fatigue (weakness), nausea, vomiting and rashes.
There is no vaccine for chikungunya. However, it is not life threatening. After few days, the fever subsides, said the official.

Both Dengue and Chikungunya is spread by mosquitoes. Aedes mosquitoes breed on water in plastic bucket, cement tank, tyre, bottle, coconut shell, flower pot. Karike village has large rubber estates. Hence, the mosquitoes might have been breeding in containers in the estates.
