<p class="title">Men outnumbered women in exercising their franchise in the Lok Sabha elections in Mysore-Kodagu segment, which was conducted on Thursday. While 70.01% of men exercised their franchise, 67.71% of women cast their votes.</p>.<p class="bodytext">It appears that the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation program (SVEEP) has failed to reach out to transgenders (others) as only 17.78% of them participated in the election.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The constituency, which comprises Kodagu and part of Mysuru district, has a total of 18,94,372 voters. Compared to men, women voters are higher in number. While the segment has 9,44,577 men voters, 9,49,702 voters are women. A total of 6,64,712 men exercised their right and 6,47,203 women exercised their franchise.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The Mysuru-Kodagu segment comprises a total of eight Assembly segments — Madikeri and Virajpet in Kodagu district, Periyapatna, Hunsur, Chamundeshwari, Krishnaraja, Chamaraja and Narasimharaja in Mysuru district.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Except for Madikeri Assembly segment, men voters outnumber women in all other segments. Out of 1,11,853 women voters in Madikeri segment, 85,513 women came out to vote. For 1,09,294 men voters, 83,781 cast their<br />right.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The highest number of women voters, 1,50,055, are in Chamundeshwari segment, but, only 1,05,848, cast their votes. Periyapatna has the least women voters of 90,895. Out of them, 69,886 cast their votes.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Virajpet segment has 1,09,985 women voters and a total of 79,474 cast their votes. Similarly, Hunsur has 1,12,770 women and 90,103 of them voted. Krishnaraja, Chamaraja and Narasimharaja segments have 1,23,532, 1,16,929 and 1,33,683 women voters. While Krishnaraja recorded a women voter turnout of 73,118, Chamaraja and Narasimharaja recorded 68,488 and 79,694 voters turnout,<br />respectively.</p>.<p class="bodytext">It appears that SVEEP has failed to reach out to the ‘other’ category voters to convince them to vote as their turnout is poor in the segment. Out of a total of 127 voters, only 14 cast their right. Except for Periyapatna segment, all other segments have ‘other’ voters.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The highest number of 42 ‘other’ voters are in Narasimharaja segment and 12 of them have cast their right. Except one each in Chamaraja and Chamundeshwari segment, no voters from Madikeri, Virajpet, Hunsur and Krishnaraja segment, cast their right.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Madikeri segment has 10 ‘other’ voters and 15 in Virajpet.
