<p>The annual general meeting of the Ex-servicemen association and a get-together was held at Kodava Samaja in Madikeri on Sunday.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Speaking on the occasion, Major (retd) Venkatagiri said that the family which has sent its member to the Indian Army will take pride in serving the nation.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Though people revere ex-servicemen, many companies do not provide a job for them, he said.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Ex-servicemen are offered jobs of security guards or supervisors. Unfortunately, the capabilities of ex-servicemen are not understood by many, he added.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He further said that Kodagu has given more soldiers to the Indian Army, compared to other districts and the tradition will continue.</p>.<p class="bodytext">He also called upon the youth to get into the Army in large numbers. The ex-servicemen should provide proper guidance to youth, he added.</p>.<p class="bodytext">More than 160 ex-servicemen took part in the programme. Discussions were held regarding the development of the association.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Association President Anand, Vice President Ganapathy, Secretary Kaverappa, Honourary Secretary Muttanna, Association members Kuttappa and Ganesh were present at the meeting.</p>
