<p>Miscreants have poisoned the water of River Seetha near Doobala in Heruru Gram Panchayat limit, killing thousands of fish.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Fish were found dead in the river on Monday morning. Women who came to wash clothes at the river noticed the dead fish and alerted the villagers.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Unidentified miscreants have mixed copper sulphate into the river water.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Along with fish, other aquatic creatures were also found dead. The people in the neighbouring villages use the water for drinking.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Jayapura Nadakatcheri revenue inspectors Nagaraj, Ramya, Pallavi, police personnel and Heruru Gram Panchayat development officer Mahesh conducted a spot inspection.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Gram Panchayat member Amjad has submitted a complaint to Jayapura police station and demanded action against the wrongdoers.</p>.<p class="bodytext">People of the village have also urged for action against the coffee estate owners who have been releasing effluents from coffee pulping units directly into the stream.</p>
