<p>Blue Boys Youth Club will organise D Shivappa Memorial state-level Gold Cup Football Tournament at the grounds of Government Primary School in Suntikoppa from May 24 to June 2, said Blue Boys Youth Club General Secretary B K Prashanth.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Addressing the media here on Monday, he said that the tourney is being held for the 24th year. As many as 22 teams from the state will take part in the tourney this year.</p>.<p class="bodytext">“The tournament is organised in memory of Bettageri estate owner Doddamane Shivappa, who was a patron of football. Now, his son Vinod Shivappa has been conducting the tournaments from the past several years,” he added.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The tournament will be inaugurated at 3 pm on May 24, by entrepreneur Vishal Shivappa of Bengaluru. Hassan Consumer Forum Chairman A Lokesh Kumar and patron D Vinod Shivappa will take part.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The winning team will be awarded a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 30,000. The runners-up will take home a cash prize of Rs 20,000. These apart, there will be individual prizes, said B K Prashanth.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Two teams each from Bengaluru and Mandya will be part of the tournament. Four teams from Mysuru, teams from Calicut, Kootuparambu, Kumble, Uppala, Nanjangud, Hassan, Warriors Football Club from KGF, Kodagu eleven, Netaji Yuvaka Sangha, Gaddehalla and Blue Boys Youth Club will compete in the tournament.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The matches will be held at 3 pm. The semifinal will be held on June 1.</p>
