The Saptaswara temple that is shaped in the form of a tambura is a major centre for attraction in Rudrapatna. The scholars of this town have won great acclaim across the world. Several of them have won appreciation as Mysore’s court scholars. Totte Thamappa (Ramaswamaiah, Veene Subbaraya, violin exponent Venkataraya, Veene Pudashamanna (Channakeshavaiah), Rangashastry, Veene Subbaraya, Veene Rangappa, R V Srikantaiah all well-known musicians hail from Rudrapatna. Modern-day musicians like R K Srikantan, R K Ramanathan and R K Narayanaswamy all hail from this village. The list is indeed endless.

On the literary front too, the Hassan region is well-known for its immense contribution. The literary giant Raja Rao hailed from this district. Reverend Kittel of the noted Kittel dictionary fame stayed in Hassan for 16 years. Frenchman Abbe J A Dubois  wrote the famous work ‘Hindu Manners Customs and Ceremonies’ in 1806 after researching at the Shettihalli Church.
