<p class="bodytext">The High Court of Karnataka on Thursday adjourned the hearing of a public interest litigation (PIL) challenging the KC Valley project on the ground that it is affecting the health of local people as the untreated water is polluting the ground water.</p>.<p class="bodytext">A division bench headed by Chief Justice Dinesh Maheshwari adjourned the case by two weeks after the state government sought more time to submit a detailed report with regard to the water quality of areas in question that include Chikkaballapur and Kolar districts.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The petitioners’ advocate submitted that Narasapur Grama Panchayat had issued pamphlets asking people not to use water from borewells in the said districts.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The court further asked the state government regarding its investment amounting to Rs 1,300 crores in the project and orally observed that it should not adopt a trial and error approach for the same as it affects the lives of residents. </p>.<p class="bodytext">The court adjourned the case to September 11.</p>
