<p>Hearing a petition by Ramesh Narayana Deshpande and others, who had moved the High Court, the division bench comprising Chief Justice J S Khehar and Justice Manjula Chellur directed the government to submit details regarding the use of existing government buildings at Shahpur within a week.<br /><br />The petitioners, questioning the Government order dated 26 June, 2009 declaring Yadgir as a district, said that the new district does not have any existing infrastructure including government buildings and the State is all set to create infrastructure at a cost of Rs 300 crore by acquiring the land.<br /><br />They submitted that Shahpur already has required infrastructure which has been constructed for the Upper Krishna Project and the same can be utilised if Shahpur was declar-ed the district and sought for renotification and declare Shahpur as new district.<br /><br />Upa Lokayukta appointment <br /><br />The High Court on Thursday directed a petitioner to furnish the exact provisions of the Administrative Tribunal Act,1985 during the time of appointment of the Upa Lokayukta.<br /><br />Hearing a PIL filed by RLNarasimhamurthy, a city-based advocate and party in person, challenging the appointment of S B Majage as Upa Lokayukta, the division bench comprising Chief Justice JS Khehar and Justice Manjula Chellur directed the petitioner to place the exact provisions which prohibits the appointment of a former vice-chairman of the Tribunal to the Upa Lokayukta post. <br /><br />The petitioner has sought to strike down the appointment order of S B Majage as Upa Lokayukta stating that his appointment is a violation of section 11 (e) of Administrative Tribunal Act 1985.<br /><br />“Section 11 (e)of Administrative Tribunal Act (1985) prohibits the appointment of any member, President and Vice President of Administrative Tribunal to any Government agency,” the petitioner had submitted.<br /><br />WPOs appointment <br /><br />The High Court has directed the Government to appoint Women Protection Officer to look into the increasing acts of domestic violence. Hearing a petition by Veena Rai, the division bench comprising Chief Justice J S Khehar and Justice Manjula Chellur directed the State Government to appoint the WPOs in a month. The petitioner submitted that the cases of domestic violence have not been dealt with seriously.</p>
