<p>When a court awarded judgement in his favour, little did a top police officer of Mysore know that his joy was shortlived, as he was close to getting caught for forging records to make his case strong. It’s the law again that found him guilty. Now, he is in the dock following a city advocate moving High Court seeking police action.<br /><br /></p>.<p>According to the documents available with Deccan Herald, the issue that dates back to 1999, surfaced with special officer of CET Cell, SJM Samudaya Bhavan, first main road, Gandhinagar, Bangalore, and commissioner for youth services and sports department, Nrupathunga road, Bangalore, filing a writ appeal (no 7002/1999) against Kavitha, 17, daughter of S G Maribashetti, No 2846, Mounted Company Officials Quarters, Lalitha Mahal road, Mysore - 570011.<br /><br />Earlier, S G Maribashetti (now commandant), a DySP with mounted company, Mysore, had filed a writ petition (No 22296/99) at the single judge bench of the High Court seeking admission of his daughter, under sports quota, to one of the engineering colleges.<br /><br />Shetti had adduced the certificate of merit issued to Kavita, certifying that she won silver medal in equestrian at the fourth national games conducted in Bangalore and Mysore in 1997. The judge had ruled in the favour of Maribasetti, making some observations.<br /><br />The CET Cell and youth services and sports department had stumbled upon a vital evidence to disprove the claims of Shetti. The equestrian federation of India had utilised the services of Shetti for hosting the event in Mysore, as the latter was an accomplished equestrian himself. <br /><br />Moreover, the startling revelation was no such event had been conducted for women during the event. It was a clear case of Shetti abusing his position. After this, the two judge bench of justice G C Bharuka and justice Mohammed Anwar ruled that Shetti had committed premeditated forgery and cheating for his own benefit. Shetti had been awarded exempler cost of Rs 10,000 as fine to be paid in the form of DD to CET Cell within two weeks of judgement and to be used for the welfare of students only.<br /><br />Taking cognisance of the girl’s future, it had been decided not to disturb her admission already availed under general category. <br /><br />Now, that a city based advocate K Manjunath has moved High Court seeking police action, the issue has resurfaced again. Acting on the directions of High Court, the jurisdictional Nazarbad police have registered a case against Mariba shetti under sections 481, 419 and 420.<br /><br /></p>
