<p>Bengaluru: JD(S) national president H D Deve Gowda on Thursday dissolved the party's Karnataka unit, essentially removing CM Ibrahim as the state president and squashing his nascent rebellion that had embarrassed the outfit.</p><p>In his riposte, Ibrahim said he would sue the party, reiterated that he still leads the "original" JD(S) and hurled the dynastic politics barb at the patriarch.</p><p>Ibrahim's ouster was widely expected after he declared that as the state president he would not allow the JD(S) to ally with the BJP-led NDA, a move that has triggered disquiet in the saffron party as well.</p><p>Gowda, a former prime minister, announced the dissolution of the state unit after the core committee and legislature party meetings. </p><p>JD(S) legislature party leader HD Kumaraswamy, Gowda's son, has been appointed "ad-hoc president". </p>.JD(S) not joining NDA: Karnataka party chief contradicts Deve Gowda, hints at split.<p>Addressing a news conference, Gowda said a new state unit would be appointed soon after consultations with district presidents and elected representatives. </p><p>"CM Ibrahim has been removed as per the party's constitution and a new (ad-hoc) president is in place," he said. "Kumaraswamy will continue as leader of the legislature party and state president." </p><p>Gowda denied claims that minority leaders are quitting the JD(S) following the party's decision to join forces with arch rival BJP and pointed to some minority leaders present at the presser to prove his point.</p><p>Kumaraswamy said the decision to dissolve the state unit was taken following the Assembly elections. "Everything will be reorganised to strengthen the party and for no other reason," he said.</p><p>Referring to JD(S) units in states like Kerala having opposed the alliance with the BJP, Gowda said: "Party units in other states, including Kerala, have been informed about this move. They've understood and agreed."</p><p><strong>Defiant Ibrahim </strong></p><p>Ibrahim, a former Union minister, remained defiant. "Under what provision have they dissolved the state unit? As per the JD(S) constitution, I must be given a notice and a no-confidence motion moved against me. They can't remove me without doing this," he said, adding that he had no invite for Thursday's meeting.</p><p>"Gowda is sacrificing everyone in the party for the sake of his son," Ibrahim said, accusing the patriarch of promoting only his family. </p><p>Questioning Kumaraswamy's appointment as ad-hoc president, Ibrahim said: "Why wasn't GT Deve Gowda made president? I quit my MLC post even though I had four years left and joined the party."</p><p>Ibrahim maintained that he still leads the "original" JD(S). "A majority of MLAs are with me, but they're being scared off. I know when to call which MLA. They'll decide," he said.</p>
