<p>Karnataka on Monday reported 44,438 Covid-19 cases and 239 related deaths, taking the total caseload and fatalities to 16.46 lakh and 16,250 respectively.</p>.<p>Bengaluru Urban alone accounted for 22,112 infections. The day also saw 20,901 patients getting discharged. Cumulatively, 16,46,303 positive cases have so far been reported in Karnataka, which includes 1,85,299 recoveries. Active cases stood at 4,44,734.</p>.<p>With 2,685 fresh infections Mysuru followed Bengaluru Urban. Tumakuru reported 2,361 cases, Hassan (1,673) Hassan while it was 1,367 in Mandya. The number of those who are vaccinated now stands at 98.78 lakh.</p>.<p>Apart from 20 earlier cases of B.1.617 infection reported on April 27 from Bengaluru and Kalaburagi, 42 more such cases were detected in the state taking the total to 62.</p>.<p>Nodal officer for genetic confirmation of SARS-CoV-2 in Karnataka did not respond to DH’s queries as to the districts from where samples came from to the lab at Nimhans. </p>.<p>Eleven districts reported over 500 cases each.
