<p class="title">The local court here has acquitted Mahendra Kumar, former convener of Bajrang Dal, in the case pertaining to making inflammatory remarks over the church attack case in Mangaluru.</p>.<p class="bodytext">After the church attack in Mangaluru on September 14, 2008, Mahendra Kumar in a press meet at the Woodlands Hotel in Mangaluru, had justified the act. Hence, a case was registered against him by the Bunder police. The police had filed a charge sheet to the court after the investigation in 2009.</p>.<p class="bodytext">As many as 12 witnesses, including the then inspector H N Venkatesh Prasanna, had deposed in the court.</p>.<p class="bodytext">On September 14, 2008, Adoration Monastery in Milagres was attacked. Similar attacks had taken place in churches at Mangaluru, Bantwal, Belthangady. As Mahendra Kumar had justified the act, the then Inspector H N Venkatesh Prasanna, had arrested him.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Kumar’s advocate Rajesh Kumar Amtadi had argued that Mahendra Kumar had not called for a press meet to create hate between Christians and Hindus. He has great respect for Christians and had only opposed conversion.</p>
