<p class="title">Mangalore University has retained second position in the State and third in the country, according to the UI Green Metric World University Rankings 2019 made public on Thursday.</p>.<p class="title">The University has been placed at 191 st position in the World. This year 719 universities from 81 countries had participated, a press release from University stated.</p>.<p class="bodytext">According to the rankings, University was considered as number one under Energy and Climate, one of the criteria for ranking and fourth under Education in the entire country.</p>.<p class="bodytext">This ranking was based on university set up and infrastructure, Energy and climate change, waste disposal and treatment, water resources and management, Transportation facilities and the quality of education and research publications.</p>.<p class="bodytext">UI Green Metric World University Rankings is the first and only university rankings in the world that studies university’s commitment in developing an ‘environmentally friendly’ infrastructure.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The University’s initiatives in the construction of green buildings, installation of solar lights, green coverage in the campus and research contributions had given the university an advantage over many premier institutions including NITK Surathkal, NIT Rourkela, IIT Madras, IIM Ahmadabad, University of Calcutta, Punjab University among others.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The University had performed as one of the best university among the state funded universities in Karnataka and 12th among the best government universities in India as according to India today’s survey report published in July 2018.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Recently QS India ranking had placed the University at 45th position and 173rd d position in the BRICS ranking.</p>
