The new posting was given to the officer on Wednesday. Meena came under criticism by farmers of Chamarajnagar as well leaders of the Opposition parties on the grounds that he did not handle the farmers’ agitation properly, on December 11. A section of the agitating farmers had taken out padayatra from Chamarajnagar to Bangalore. But Chief Minister Yeddyurappa met the farmers in Bidadi and assured them that the DC as well as the Superintendent of Police T D Pawar would be shifted out of the district.
Meena and Pawar were transferred on December 24 without new postings. Pawar is yet to get a new posting. In place of Meena, Chakravarthi Mohan has been posted as DC of Chamarajnagar.
Along with Meena, other four IAS officers have been transferred and given new postings as indicated - A K Monnappa - Managing Director, Mysore Sugar Company Ltd; Dr K H Govinda Raj - Special Commissioner, BBMP; Bevis A Coutinho - Commissioner, Bangalore Metropolitan Regional Development Authority; Sanjiv Kumar - Secretary to Government, Planning & Statistic Department, Bangalore.
