<p>Speaking after inaugurating the solar home lights and streetlights project under Girijana Upayoajne here on Friday, he said training centers have been set up at 176 taluk centers across the State. Training on garments especially regarding handloom and powerloom works and delicate embroideries are given to the eligible candidates at the centers. Since two years about 40,000 people have been benefited from the programme. Each trainee will get a stipend of Rs 2,000 per month.<br /><br />The training is of 4 months duration in some areas, while 6 months in the remaining places. The products will be marketed by the cooperative societies set up by the government adjacent to the respective training centers, he said.<br /><br />He said 3 skill development centers will be set up at a cost of Rs 10 lakh across the State. Comprehensive self employments programmes are set up to facilitate the rural youths especially people residing in the naxal prone areas. The handloom goods produced by these people will be directly supplied to the sports hostels in the State, he said.<br /><br />Currently, the project is set up at four places in the naxal infected belt of the district. Bavadi, Hara, Hosbala and Kabbinale are the four places in the district chosen as the training centers. There are 20 apprentices each in the training centers. The total numbers of trainees are 80 in the first batch of the project.<br /><br />After the completion of the training the apprentices are facilitated by Rs 60,000 and a handloom apparatus to become self reliant. Besides, they are facilitated by raw materials and the goods produced by them are marketed by Weavers Cooperative Societies. The programme is taken up by Karnataka Handloom Development Corporation (KHDC).<br /><br />Shekar distributed Rs 20,000 each to the beneficiaries of various programmes taken up under Suvarna Vastra Neethi Yojane on the occasion.
