<p>In an affidavit filed before the High Court on Saturday, the government said that the unit has been set up with necessary sanctions from competent authorities - Karnataka State Pollution Control Board and the Department of Mines and Geology. The Government, however, asserted that the threat of river pollution was imaginary and the Sullia TMC had taken requisite measures. Division Bench comprising Chief Justice J S Khehar and Justice A S Bopanna adjourned the matter.<br /><br />Memo rejected<br /><br />The High Court on Thursday rejected a memo filed by the Assistant Solicitor General seeking directions for the functioning of Debt Recovery Tribunal, four days a week.<br /><br />During the hearing of suo motu petition, the ASG submitted that the chairman of DRT has been suspended and the Tribunal functions twice a week. He submitted that the judge arrives from Chennai for two days and sought directions for the functioning of the Tribunal four days a week.<br /><br />“How can we order to improve situation at Bangalore by disturbing the functioning at Chennai ? We cannot do this,” said Chief Justice J S Khehar. <br /><br />The Division Bench comprising Chief Justice J S Khehar and Justice A S Bopanna rejected the memo and directed the ASG to get instructions to ensure functioning of the tribunal during the week days. The matter was adjourned.<br /><br />Order stayed<br /><br />The High Court on Thursday stayed the order of the Central Administrative Tribunal in a matter related to posting of a police officer. R P Sharma was appointed ADGP (Security) for the Commonwealth Games. After the event concluded, he was given a posting of the rank of an IGP. Sharma challenged the order in the CAT claiming that he should be accommodated in a post of the ADGP rank in Karnataka. The CAT directed the Home Ministry to consider the request.The Home Ministry approached the High Court challenging the order.</p>
