A sum of Rs 1 crore has been earmarked for contingency relief fund. The estimated average loss of rain havoc is Rs 40 crore. As many as Rs 1,111 crore has been earmarked in the budget for the special packages for City and Town municipalities to take up civic infrastructure development programmes, under which Udupi CMC will get Rs 30 crore for 2 years, Kundapur and Karkala will get Rs 10 crore each and Saligrama will get Rs 2 crore. Local bodies in the district have identified the construction works. Formal approval will be sought by the government followed by the tender process, he said.<br /><br />DC’s Office complex in Manipal is expected to be completed by November 1 and till date Rs 12 crore has been invested. The entire cost of the project is Rs 12 crore. A sum of Rs 2.15 crore has been allocated for Yathri Nivas in Karkala and the project is taken up under KHDB. As many as 20-25 construction works are pending in the district. Two community hospitals at Baindoor and Kota besides 8 primary health centres will be set up in the district. There is a proposal for Mini Vidhana Soudha in Udupi taluk.
