Offensive remarks against Field Marshal Cariappa sparks outrage

Madikeri: The use of derogatory language in a WhatsApp group about Field Marshal K M Cariappa and General Thimayya has sparked widespread outrage in the district.

Various organisations have demanded that the accused be identified and immediately arrested. Several organisations, including the Kodava Samaja and the Kodagu district unit of the BJP, have filed a complaint with the  Superintendent of Police in this regard.

Mysore-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar has also insisted on strict action against the accused. When contacted, Superintendent of Police K Ramarajan said, “The incident is being taken seriously. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.”

Sources indicated that one individual has been detained for questioning.
