The stream, joined by Kempu Hole rivulet, has left a trail of destruction in Shiradi and surrounding villages. The overflowing stream has inundated roads and several acres of fields and plantations.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Water from overflowing stream gushed into several houses at SC/ST Colony in Shiradi Adda Hole, causing grave hardships to residents.</p>.<p class="bodytext">According to the locals, they have not seen such grave flood situation in the last four decades or so. People living on the banks of Gundya stream have been shifted to safer locations.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Assistant Commissioner (Puttur sub-division) Krishnamurthy, Shiradi GP members visited the spot and took stock of the situation.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Water released from Kempu Hole hydel dam has intensified the flood situation, according to GP member Prakash Gundya.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The construction materials stored by Ocean Construction, company entrusted with Shiradi Ghat roadwork, were washed away in the flood.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Meanwhile, the vehicular traffic on Hosamata bridge across Gundya stream resumed on Friday morning after the water level in the stream receded. The bridge was closed from Wednesday as the stream overflowed.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The water level at the confluence of Kumaradhara and Netravathi at Sahasralingeshwara Temple in Uppinangady has receded on Friday. Floodwater had gushed the temple on Thursday. A disaster management team, equipped with boats, is camping at the site.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Water from the overflowing Kapila river gushed into the historic Shishileshwara Temple at Shishila in Belthangady taluk.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The bathing ghat at River Netravathi in Dharmasthala was also submerged.</p>.<p class="CrossHead">Rain resumes in Udupi</p>.<p class="bodytext">After a break, showers lashed many parts of Udupi district on Friday.
