<p class="bodytext">With heavy showers continually lashing Kodagu district on Sunday, the water levels in rivers Keerehole, Cauvery and Lakshmanatheertha have increased drastically.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The water from swollen rivers and rivulets entered farmland, submerging the paddy fields in Kanooru, Balele, Nittur, Kottageri and other areas.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The water from river Cauvery has entered the paddy fields in Kottamudi and Bolibane. An electricity pole was uprooted, disrupting power supply in Moornadu and Napoklu.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Rain continued to lash Kushalnagar and surrounding areas including Koodige, Hebbale, Siddalingapura, Guddehosoor, Nanjarayapattana. A compound wall of P K Mohammed collapsed on the Siddapura Road.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The intensity of rain increased in Perumbadi, Memanakolli, Hanuman Pare, Vatekolli and Makutta in Virajpet. Paddy fields have been inundated at Arji, Betoli. The rain has hampered the transplantation of paddy seedlings.</p>.<p class="CrossHead">Villages in darkness</p>.<p class="bodytext">Several villages are in darkness with the snapping of power supply in the district. Furthermore, the chilly weather has forced people to remain indoors.</p>.<p class="bodytext">In the last 24 hours, the district has received an average of 73.7 mm rainfall. Madikeri taluk received the highest rainfall—119.7 mm, followed by Virajpet—64.1 mm and Somwarpet—37.3 mm.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The rain has affected the marigold flowers as well as green chilli cultivation, said Doddabilaha farmer B M Prakash.</p>
