<p>Deputy Commissioner N Manjushri directed the officials concerned to make all necessary preparations for the smooth conduct of Vairamudi Utsava, scheduled to be held from March 17 at Melkote in the district.</p>.<p>The presiding deity Cheluvanarayanaswamy would be adorned with a diamond-studded crown and would be taken out in a procession on the main streets of the town. Lakhs of people from across the state and also neighbouring states visit Melkote, to be part of the utsava.</p>.<p>Speaking at a preparatory meeting, Manjushri said, “Lakhs of people will visit Melkote for Vairamudi festival. The officials should ensure sufficient drinking water, bus services, medical and ambulance services, parking arrangements and temporary toilets during the festival. The Cesc officials should take necessary steps to provide continuous power supply during all days of the festival. Arrangements should be made to illuminate the temple and the ponds (kalyanis).”</p>.<p>Manjushri directed the officials to take up repair works on the main roads of the town, to ensure proper traffic flow and parking arrangements. All roads and underground drains should be cleared and priority should be given to cleanliness and hygiene in the town. She told the officials to clean the ponds and to keep the surroundings clean. Temporary CCTV cameras should be installed on the premises, she stressed.</p>.<p>Additional DC M J Roopa, Additional SP Balaramegowda and Pandavapura Assistant Commissioner Shylaja were present.</p>
