<p class="bodytext">Amidst unresolved demands, the counselling for transfers of pre-university lecturers has commenced, leaving several lecturers unhappy.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The PU lecturers had put forth several demands before the government on the transfer rules. These included having a proposal to reduce the number of years of work from five years to three for couples. They also sought an exemption from the rule for those undergoing dialysis.</p>.<p class="bodytext">As there was no amendment made to the transfer rules in view of elections, none of these demands could be implemented.</p>.<p class="bodytext">“We have been serving as lecturer for four years now and are hoping for a transfer. We were hopeful that at least this year, the transfer rules would be changed and brought down to three years,” said Saritha, one of the lecturers from Bengaluru.</p>.<p class="bodytext">It was also the third time that the PU department posted a timetable for counselling and had cancelled it two times previously citing technical reasons.</p>.<p class="bodytext">“We wanted to have the changes made before counselling commenced. Several of us are unhappy about it. There is also a lot of confusion with the process itself,” said one of the lecturers.</p>
