<p>A huge mathi tree and another tree were uprooted and fell on road at Kasamakki Someshwar region. This is the third time that the traffic was disrupted on the route following uprooting of trees since the beginning of monsoon. The buses, school vehicles, milk vans and tourist visiting Kollur from Shimoga were put to hardship. Few vehicles were seen plying via Hebri-Belanje. The villagers with the help of forest department officials cleared the road at 10 am. <br /><br />The villagers alleged that several trees were uprooted on the state highway since monsoon. However, the forest department has not given much importance to it. “We were bound to Sringeri after visiting Kollur. However, with the disruption in traffic, we had to spend six hours in the traffic jam. Few trees are on the verge of collapse, which needs to be vacated by the officials,” said tourist Shodan from Bellary, speaking to Deccan Herald. <br />Following the uprooting of trees, two electric poles too have been uprooted in the region. <br /><br />The Mescom officials are working on restoring the power supply to 10 houses in Madamakki Edamale region. <br /><br />In the meantime, rain continued to lash Mangalore and surrounding areas since Friday evening. <br /><br />In the last 24 hours, Mangalore has received 60.4 mm rains followed by Bantwal—47 mm, Puttur—42 mm, Belthangady—34.2 mm and Sullia—15.2 mm rain.</p>
