Silence of BJP MPs on Centre's bias in tax shares is injustice to Karnataka: CM Siddaramaiah

Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that BJP leaders and MPs of the State are not raising their voice against the Union Government's injustice and discrimination in denying the state of Karnataka an adequate share of taxes. He accused BJP leaders from the state like Prahlad Joshi for defending the Centre, claiming the 'silence' of BJP leaders from the state on this issue was an 'injustice' to the people of the State who have elected 17 BJP MPs.

Speaking to media persons near his residence in Mysuru on on Sunday, CM Siddaramaiah said, "The Union Government has given Rs 6,498 crore of its tax share to [our] state. But Uttar Pradesh has received more than Rs 31,000 crore of tax share from the Central Government. There is so much of difference."

Karnataka, according to him, has suffered a loss of Rs 60,000 crores when it comes to the amounts allotted by the Union Government to the state in the past five years.

He also commented on BJP leaders' statements on holding protests condemning the withdrawal of a case against a mob who allegedly attacked the police in Belagavi in April 2022.

"They had withdrawn cases against RSS leaders too. Cabinet sub-committee led by Home minister Dr G Parameshwar has decided about this. It should be submitted to Court and approved, only then the case can be withdrawn," Siddaramaiah said.
